My mom has been sharing her recipes with me, and teaching me new menu offerings, we have decided to share a few recipes as I embark on my culinary journey to becoming a better cook.
Hot cross buns:
4 level cups of cake flour
1 pkt of instant dry yeast
A pinch of salt
1 heaped tablespoon of butter
1 teaspoon of mixed spice
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of all spice
1/2 cup raisins
1 tablespoon of sugar
Milk and water to bind mixture, enough to make a soft to medium dough.
Leave aside for the dough to rise for 45 minutes.
Add the raisins.
Mix then shape into round bun allow to rise again for 45 minutes, make Cross
1 tablespoon of flour and water to make your cross, place on the bun.
Glaze with egg wash, (beaten egg)
Bake at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Add sugar and water to create a glaze, add after its been baked, this gives the bun a glossy look.
